How to style your session.

Not sure where to start?

Curate a look and feel that tells your family’s story — the textures you choose, the colours you wear, and the small details you bring all shape the mood and depth of your images.

Textures photograph beautifully and add richness to your images. Woollen jumpers, chunky knits, linen shirts, Leather boots, suede shoes. Flowy dresses and skirts Avoid busy prints as they distract from connection and emotion.

Logos, characters and bold graphics pull attention away from faces and storytelling. I encourage you to choose simple, timeless pieces instead which won't date overtime (no character prints or band shirts).

The little things matter, such as heirloom jewellery, leather belts, hats, textured socks, etc. These subtle elements add depth, personality and visual interest. Aim for colours that work together rather than matching exactly.

Think about warm neutrals, earthy tones, soft pastels, denim, creams, rust, olive, navy. Work towards building 3–4 tones that feel cohesive together.

Shoes can be tricky, ultimately, I want you and your family to be comfortable and safe during our session. Lean towards natural materials such as leather boots sandals, barefoot rather than chunky bright sneakers, or high heels.

The clothing you select should feel like you, being comfortable and connected to your families story will feel good and show in the photographs.
